OF FUN!
Kickboxing is a fusion of western boxing and eastern
martial arts. Kickboxing originated when the US armed
forces came over from Japan after the second world war and
they developed their own kickboxing style.
Kickboxing is primarily used for sparring and the reason
kickboxing is so effective is that boots and gloves are
used, minimising the damage that kickboxing can inflict,
thereby extending the time that you can spar.
Kickboxing is one of the most popular martial arts.
Our particular style is a blend of karate, oriental kicking,
western boxing, and self-defence techniques.
Zen-Do classes provide a great aerobic and anaerobic
workout and will also develop speed, flexibility and co-ordination.
Classes last one hour and begin with a full body stretch.
Once properly warmed up, students learn basic punches
and kicks and then combinations. Attack and defence techniques
are then practised with a partner, and this is followed
by shadow kickboxing and exercises.
Classes are non-contact, so there is no risk of getting
hurt. Separate classes are available for those who wish
to spar and make light contact.
Chief instructor is Rafael Nieto,
British, European & World Champion with 30 years of
martial arts experience. He heads a team of top class professional
instructors including World and European Champions.
